Our bid writers worked in collaboration with a major Southwest contractor to secure a place on the Connect Plus Resurfacing Contract for the M25 motorway. We supported our client’s internal bid team in delivering compelling responses to the tender questions set by Connect Plus.
We worked remotely to plan, storyboard and draft the bid. Closer to the submission date, we were brought in to our client’s head office and utilised the knowledge of subject experts to strengthen the responses.
In the latter months of 2016, BPM Professional Services were approached by a major Manchester based contractor looking to secure a place on two high value pipeline framework contracts. The contracts were four – seven years in length and included a broad scope of works. Our experienced bid writing team took complete control of the bids, acquiring essential technical input from subject experts along the way, and produced the entire documents.
The team worked within a quick turnaround and were tasked with managing multiple bids simultaneously. Through competent planning, time management and a collaborative approach, both bids were delivered on time and to an exceptional standard. The second bid required all members of the bid writing team to work together in order to meet an extremely tight deadline set by the client. We utilised regular review meetings to ensure the whole document met the tender criteria, remained consistent throughout and best expressed our client’s unique selling points.
Our writers were brought in to draft key quality sections of the CADP Marine Piling and Decking PQQ for a major contractor. The work required a quick turnaround through storyboarding, drafting and seeking input from subject experts. The work was completed ahead of schedule to the client’s satisfaction allowing for an upload with time for a review before submission.
Between July and October 2016 BPM Professional Services writers were recruited to provide bid writing support for the HS2 Main Works Civils Contracts tenders on behalf on a major joint venture client. Our writers were instrumental in the crafting of the bid document, taking both lead author and writer duties in order to develop the message, storyboard several responses and draft written proposals in consultation with joint venture subject experts.
Given the size and scale of this tender our writers were tasked with a diverse range of responses among rapidly changing conditions and solutions. We were proactive in our approach, adapting to changing requirements and circumstances, producing a compelling and professional tender in the process.
Between April and June 2016 BPM Professional Service’s specialist writers were recruited to provide lead author duties for a major contractor in developing and delivering a comprehensive civils and tunnels framework response.

We look forward to continuing our relationship with this contractor over the coming months
In January and February 2016 BPM Professional Service’s specialist writers were recruited to provide writing support services for a Tier 1 infrastructure contractor in developing and delivering a comprehensive methodology response for a tender. This submission was on a short turnaround and required innovative solution designs. Our writers played a full and pro-active part in this process and our client received the highest quality score resulting in a successful contract award.
We worked at the client's depots and offices as well as remotely; developed storyboards, delivery solutions and worked alongside operational and technical support personnel to ensure methodologies reflected real practical solutions and emphasised the value our client added when delivering their service.
BPM Professional Service’s Bid Consultants and Writers were recently recruited by a North West based SME struggling to retain their position on two works frameworks for Anglian Water. They faced two challenges:
BPM Professional Service's team worked alongside our client’s management team to identify the requirements for the response, liaise with them in the collating of the necessary technical and regulatory information and then utilised our skills as proposal writers to write, review and edit the document responses for submission.
The result being that our client has been successfully awarded approved supplier status on both frameworks.
One of our bid writers provided lead author duties for a major construction firm's Royal Docks Capacity Enhancement tender for Docklands Light Railway. Quickly establishing ourselves within their team we worked with subject experts and the bid manager to write responses, support the other authors and edit existing responses to create a single unified voice for the submission.

We were approached by a medium sized contractor to ghostwrite a building user guide. The writing of the guide involved taking technical, jargon filled documentation (for example electrical, mechanical and maintenance information) and turning it into something that was accessible to the general reader. We worked closely with our client's knowledge specialists and produced an authoritative, readable document, in a reliable industry standard format. We have also successfully worked on several school’s renovation and extension tenders for this client, taking full responsibility for the entire tender submission in each case and enjoying a 100% success rate.
We were approached by a major contractor to harmonise their 2015 New Wear Crossing Construction Tender for Sunderland City Council which had initially been written by multiple writers and specialists. We were able to streamline the document and lift it to give an effective sales emphasis and singular voice. On this project we also proofread and edited key sections while quickly establishing a good professional relationship with their internal staff. The project was valued at an estimated £85m.
We were approached by a leading manhole survey company to write the quality sections and lift the method statements for their Anglian Water AMP framework RFI document. Following a meeting with the client management team and knowledge experts we were able to work closely with them in order to develop the response at the same time as lifting the internal policies and procedure documentation to a level necessary for the RFI. The submission was successful and secured our client a further two tenders for Anglian Water.
Writing the tender submission for the 2011 / 2012 Birmingham City Centre Interchange modifications. This included carriageway and street scene works throughout the city centre to alter and improve traffic flows and bus stop locations. The project was approximately twelve months in length and represented £4 - £5 million revenue. Our role was to write the entire quality statement on behalf of the contractor. The tender scoring split was 60% quality and 40% price. The contract was awarded to our client in July 2011. The success of this bid led to a subsequent submission being written in April 2012 for a further 55 bus stops to be constructed in the same year on the Birmingham City Centre Access Roads. This was written wholly by BPM in consultation with client personnel.
Our client was a structural engineering consultancy. They contacted us because they were struggling with the quality of their responses for pre qualifications to get onto a number of supplier frameworks. When the opportunity came for them to be on the framework for Warwickshire University they asked us to help. Working with their internal staff we provided planning, writing, review and editing assistance. The pre-qualification document was successful and we then supported our client with further writing and editing support for the final phase of selection. This consisted of two A4 side summaries of their proposal offers to the university. They were subsequently successfully selected as one of two proposed suppliers for expansion works.
We were approached by a utilities contractor who had been submitting tenders for the last two years with mixed success but had experienced trouble identifying where they were succeeding and where they were failing. Their aim was to get their submissions to a consistent point where they could reasonably predict which contracts they stood a good chance of winning and make a more informed bid / no bid decision. We reviewed a selection of their former submissions and were able to identify their key strengths and weaknesses and used this information to draw up an action plan to improve their success rate. Our comments were described as ‘highly pertinent’ by their senior writer and are currently being implemented by their in house bid team.
We were approach by a leading data storage facility to review their former tender submissions. We read the submissions, together with the accompanying tender documents from the client, and were able to identify where they were succeeding, where they were lacking in terms of not providing the client with the required information, and where they were missing opportunities to exceed the client’s expectations and achieve the higher tender scores. Following our evaluation, we were then approached by our client to conduct a final review prior to submission of their current bid. They have recently received acknowledgement that they scored the highest marks of all the tenderers
